Avex Just Bought Its Way Deeper Into the Global Music Business

Japanese entertainment giant Avex has acquired 85% of S10 Entertainment, increasing its control over the music company founded by Brandon Silverstein.

The financial terms weren't disclosed, but the move is much bigger than simply buying a management company. Avex is integrating S10 into Avex Music Group as part of its strategy to create a global music operation spanning management, recorded music, publishing, touring, live entertainment and investment.

There's an important publishing connection here, too: Avex previously acquired S10's music-publishing catalog in 2025.

That catalog reportedly contained songs connected to artists including Justin Bieber, Drake, Tate McRae, Doja Cat, Post Malone and Rihanna, with more than 22 global No. 1 hits and 50 billion streams attached to the repertoire.

Avex has also launched a $100 million publishing acquisition initiative.

Why it matters: This is another example of international companies treating music rights as a strategic asset; acquiring not just artists, but the publishing, management and infrastructure surrounding them.
